Mom to Mom: Get in the Picture
Updated: Sep 18

If you’re a mom, chances are you’ve got thousands of photos of your kids on your phone — laughing, growing, doing all the things that make your heart melt.
But how many of those photos are with you in them?
It’s easy to hide behind the camera. To say,
“Not today.”
“I need to lose 10 pounds.”
“I didn’t do my hair.”
“I just don’t feel like myself right now.”
But let me lovingly say this:
Your kids aren’t waiting for the perfect version of you.
They want you — the mom who shows up, who hugs tight, who laughs at their jokes and holds their hand when they’re nervous.
And one day, these photos will be their most treasured keepsakes.
As a photographer and a mom, I get it.
I’ve said the same things. I’ve dodged the camera, waited for “someday,” and told myself I’d book a shoot once I felt more like myself again.
But I also know this: time doesn’t wait and babies don't keep. And “someday” can come and go without a single photo of you soaking in the joy of this season.
I’m inviting you to change that.
Let’s get you in the frame — just as you are.
A few tips to help you feel more confident in front of the camera:
📸 Choose outfits that feel like YOU.
Flowy dresses, cozy sweaters, soft layers — wear something you feel comfortable and beautiful in. Don’t worry about being trendy. Be timeless.
❤️ Choose yourself first for once.
Choose your outfit first. Find what makes you feel your best and coordinate your family around THAT. Not the other way around.
🌿 Lighting is EVERYTHING and golden hour is magical.
That being said, we can also work around nap schedules and times when little ones are at their best. All of my available sessions are posted for the golden hour, but I am happy to work with the schedule that fits best for growing families. Just ask!
💄 Treat yourself to a little something.
Whether that’s professional hair/makeup, a new outfit, or just 30 quiet minutes to get ready — it can make all the difference in how you feel.
❤️ Focus on the connection, not the pose.
Don’t worry about smiling perfectly. Hug your kids. Play with their hair. Let them climb on your lap. These are the photos that become favorites.
You don’t need to be “ready.”
You just need to be present.
Your family loves you right now — not 10 pounds from now, not with different hair, not when life finally slows down.
Right now.
So this fall, get in the picture.
I’ll make sure it feels relaxed, natural, and true to your family. I will guide you with all my posing tricks. Just let me do my thing and you will shine.
And I promise — you won’t regret it.
xo,
Cayce
